This is quite honestly one of the most amazing books I have ever read in my life. Words fail in explaination- it's fantastic, it's inspiring, it's emotional, it's insightful. Erwin writes in a way that expresses the parts of us most people can't even begin to explain in words.
For me, after a long dry spell in my faith, he was able to inspire that drive for faith once again with just a book.
Soul Cravings is pure elegance.
I urge everyone to read it. I could read and re-read and still be captivating.
Thank you Erwin McManus, you are such an inspiration!!
God Bless.

Don't listen to the garbage that religious pundits would say; this book (The Barbarian Way) awakened me to the Jesus I used to know... kindled a flame in me...

Erwin,
I am a 22 year old Christian and have somehow, somewhere lost my path and destiny. I used to be filled hope and dreams, but with life experiences I have lost most of my faith. In your book Soul Cravings in entry 19, you wrote "Unless you have been severly jaded, there is something inside you that either drives you to make the world a better place or makes you feel guilty that you aren't doing anything about it". I related to this sentence so much because I realized I have lost all feelings and emotions to care or to make a difference. You go on to say that if you are jaded, you should remember a time when you believed in your future. I have done this and I just feel that that was a time when I was young, naive and unaware of the world. I was wondering if you had any much needed advice on how I can get back to a place of hope, faith and feeling a destiny.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Tara Lacey

I want to thank God for inspiring in you "seizing ur devine moment". The book has so much changed my approch to life that I've now decided to read it at least ones in 3 month, because every time I read it, it keeps my eyes afresh on purpose and snatches away from me every trace of mediocrity and procrastination. it is a book I have recommended to almost every single person in my circle of influence. God bless you Erwin.

Dear friends and family in Christ,

All glory to God as we continue to serve the Lord through His grace and strength standing strong for the truth of His Word in the mighty Name of Jesus!

I’m Pastor Francis Yeye from Kenya East Africa. I read your website and I was pleased with what you are doing. I know very well that you do receive many mails from Africa . Some emails gives you courage and others not, but God is good in all ways. My request is that when you receive this email, you will not be offended instead you respond and give us encouragement. Actually, we need you teachings and if possible, we want some of you to come and have a conference in our churches. We have five different fellowships. We are not so many people two of them we have built temporary churches and three of them we are fellowshipping our trees. We need your prayers and teachings. Let the mighty hand of the Lord bless you richly.

Yours in Christ.

I was in my college bookstore and came across "Soul Cravings" and something told me to get this and I'm glad I did. Thank you for this wonderful peace of literature that I can't seem to put down. This book is definitely helping me find the inter human spirit that lies within all of us, mostly within myself.

"We are driven by love, driven to love, and even driven from love"

I've experienced all three and craving more. Thank you!

Erwin:

I saw you talk at the university of Guelph tonight and my father came. you are entirely relational and I appreciated that so much. there were many questions asked at the end and many of them spoke my own questions; which was a relief because I'm not sure I was ready to ask them outloud.

I've had many thoughts of overwhelming failure and tonight on the half hour drive home my dad and I talked about what you said (he's been a pastor my whole life) and it began an incredible new chapter in our relationship.

thank you for having such personal answers to personal questions and speaking to so many areas of questions.

side note:I'm starting a forum (small group) on your book the barbarian way out of a university church based in waterloo ontario this thursday.

thank you for such great conduits of conversation and questioning.
