[...] “There’s so much talk about potential in our culture, as if it’s the end-all of success. Has anyone ever said about you, “He has so much potential”? If you’re under twenty – let’s give you twenty-five – consider it a compliment. Potential – your untapped or unlocked capacity. Potential – the hint of greatness not yet developed. “He has so much potential” – a statement of praise and maybe even adoration. And, then you’re thirty, and you still have all this potential. Pressing forty and you’re still full of potential. If you’re forty-five and someone looks at you and says, “You have so much potential,” pause, excuse yourself, step into a closet and have a good cry. What once was a statement of promise is now an assessment of lost opportunity. There is a point where you’re not supposed to be full of potential, you’re supposed to be full of talent, capacity and product. Potential is a glimpse of what could be, yet there must be a shift from where we have potential to where we are potent.” – Erwin McManus from Chasing Daylight [...]

I go to a small church here in California in the Sierra and we just finished up a group study with the CD and the Chasing Daylighy book and work book. It brought a lot of things to light that we as children of God miss or take for granted. Thank You for writing this book because I saw how it touched live during this study and transformed some into during what you say,"reach out and seize the divine moment that God has place you in." I have been an evengelist for about 14 yrears and I tell you this is a great teaching tool to reach out to those that are still having doubts about working for the Lord. Thanks once again for your obedience and being lead by the Holy Spirit keep up the work and may God Bless you in all that you do for the Kingdom of God.

What we write is a written record. People often write from their heart, what is in their head at the time or they simply document their emotions. Writing from the soul is an entirely different experience. That is when the power of the written word is truly fueled.

Thanks for writing from your soul.

I found the book "uprising" first and read it...next to the last chapter was the "Ah ha" point!...bought the rest of the books and the Crave DVD ...reading Chasing Daylight now and it feels good to find someone who stirs my soul and creativity that I find so often repressed in denominational religion. I have a vision to reach the 14-40 group that tends to be missing in our denomination and I belive the messages in these books are great tools to implement in a missional effort to fulfill that vision quest. Biblical, but creative....IHS...paul

Erwin-I attended a conference you spoke at in AZ, my daughter attended Mosaic while going to college in LA and I have read The Barbarian Way and Soul Cravings as well as this book. I originally read it as Seizing Your Divine Moment. This book motivated me to propel my own ministry/non profit organization into action and to trust in God's provision. Thank you for allowing God to speak through you. You have been an inspiration and "awakened" my soul to live a life without boundaries to serve Christ! Blessings!

Hello Erwin.

I am a 33 year young man, from Ohio. I attend an assembly of God in St Marys...where our pastor referred me to your "Barbarian Way". My father is a pastor over in Indiana and I must admit that growing up, i became VERY resentful of what church was and what it meant for me. However, I do realise as I get older and more mature in both life and following Christ the TRUE importance of finding way back to my roots and God. My father is the preacher...NOT I! I want nothing to do with the politics of church...BUT, YES...I will "fight for the heart of MY KING"! It is with great pleasure that I have just also finished Chasing daylight and I really appreciate and respect the honesty and transperacy of your writing...and the witness that you truely show for all of us! I grew up in a very conservative/legalistic family...and even as a Christ follower now...I still need the beacons in the night to lead the way! Sorry for writing a novel, but I have been purchasing and giving your books out to others whom I know have the great power of positive influence in their own little circles and I simply ask them to read the books and pass them on or purchase another one of your books to continue passing the torch along!

Thank you so much for writing the books and Glory to God for blessing you with the experiences to encourage the rest of us and igniting/re-igniting the passion in the rest of us!

My second comment on this. I've read the book, gone through the study group, watched the videos and received all the other books Erwin has written. I'm inspired beyond belief! So much to digest; so much to research and pray about. God has really blessed me through these studies, books, videos, and the podcasts. I'm now a regular at downloading and listening to the Podcasts as well. Thank you, Erwin McManus, for jumping into the dream God gave for your life.

Amazing book! The moment I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I've read it 3 times already but each read, there's always something fresh, something new.

I'm in the middle of a bible study with my youth group on "Chasing Daylight" and they are loving it. I've already done it with our college group, and think it is just as appropriate for teenagers to tackle. Thanks for allowing God to use you in this way to ask the kinds of questions that, if we're honest, we all need to be asking. Keep up the GOD work. Blessings.
